Jade Castrinos started singing when she was 11 years old. She grew up in St. Petersburg, Florida, and later moved to Malibu, California, where she spent most of her childhood.

Castrinos revealed that she always loved singing, and she began writing songs and playing music with her dad when she was around 11. She started learning to play the guitar at the age of 6. 

Jade's love for music grew after listening to songs by Joni Mitchell, thanks to her mother playing Mitchell's records while cooking. She shared that playing music with her father was a significant experience for her during her teenage years. 

Castrinos felt free and supported, which helped her discover her voice and gain confidence. She mentions several bands and musicians like Beach House, Patti Smith, Neil Young, The Beatles, Fiona Apple, and others as her inspirations. However, Jade credits her father as her biggest musical influence.

How Did Jade Castrinos Become a Member of Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros? 

Jade Castrinos became a member of Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros in 2005. She met singer Alexander Ebert outside Little Pedro’s in downtown Los Angeles.

Although the band officially launched in 2007, their debut album, "Up From Below," was released two years later. This album, inspired by the Southern California vibe, included their famous single "Home," which has garnered over 100 million views on YouTube. 

The band's formation was unique, as members joined gradually to help complete their first album.

Jade Castrinos' Additional Accomplishments With Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros Included

During her time with Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, Jade Castrinos achieved notable success. The band toured extensively worldwide, captivating audiences at renowned festivals such as Coachella, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Leeds, and Austin City Limits.

In May 2012, Castrinos and her bandmates released their second album, "Here," featuring standout tracks like "Man On Fire" and "That’s What’s Up." The album debuted impressively, claiming the #1 spot on the Independent Music Chart and reaching #5 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart in its debut week. 

Additionally, Jade toured with Mumford & Sons and opened for the acclaimed singer-songwriter, musician, and model Cat Power during her tenure with the band. 

In 2015, Jade officially parted ways with Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros.

Jade Castrinos Departed From Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros 

In June 2014, Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros announced their separation from Jade Castrinos just as the band was gearing up for their latest North American tour. 

Although Ebert declined to divulge specific reasons "out of respect for Jade," he expressed deep emotional distress, stating, "We did not feel right doing this tour with Jade. That fact breaks my heart in ways I don’t want to describe." 

Following Castrinos' dismissal from the band, she took to Instagram, where she shared her sentiments, stating, "For seven years I sang and wrote music with Edward Sharpe. They voted me off tour a week before they left, via email. lol." However, the post has since been removed.

The decision to part ways wasn't abrupt; Jade had been increasingly absent in the months leading up to the announcement.

What is Jade Castrinos up to These Days? 

After leaving the band, Jade Castrinos expressed her commitment to continue writing, singing, and playing music indefinitely. She shared her intention to immerse herself in songwriting and performing, regardless of the circumstances. 

Following her departure from the band, Castrinos attended a songwriters' colony on Nantucket, where she connected with fellow collaborators. This experience provided her with a clear vision for her future musical endeavors and the direction of her upcoming records.

Jade Castrinos Has Collaborated With Jakob Dylan

Jade Castrinos has collaborated with singer and songwriter Jakob Dylan, the lead singer for the roots-rock band the Wallflowers and the son of Bob Dylan, on several occasions. They released their cover of "Go Where You Wanna Go" in November 2019, and later performed together on the Late Show With James Corden in August of the same year.

Castrinos has also made appearances and performed on other major late-night shows such as Conan O’Brien, David Letterman, and Jimmy Kimmel. Together with Jakob Dylan, she recorded a cover for the soundtrack of the documentary "Echo in the Canyon."

Their collaboration dates back to earlier events such as their performance at Showtime’s Emmy Eve festivities in September 2015.

Who is Jade Castrinos Dating?

In recent years, Jade Castrinos has kept her distance from the media and is not very active on social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter. Therefore, it is not known whether she is married, in a relationship, or single. 

During her time with Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, Castrinos dated fellow band member and lead singer, Alexander Ebert. However, they eventually broke up, although they continued to perform together for a while after the split.
