Randle Mell Was Married to Mary McDonnell

Mary McDonnell and Randle Mell were married for 37 years before deciding to legally separate in 2021. They first met during the filming of the movie Grand Canyon in 1984, in which they both starred. 

The lovebirds got married that same year on September 29. The pair welcomed their first child, Olivia, three years after their wedding. Their son, Michael, was born in 1995.  

In an interview with The Press of Atlantic City, McDonnell talked about their relationship, mentioning that they were both quite determined individuals. She shared that before meeting Mell, she had dated many actors, whereas Mell, who came from a large family and cherished sports, hadn't dated many actors.  

Randle himself admitted that he was smitten with Mary from the moment they met on the set of Grand Canyon. Despite their strong bond, their stubborn personalities led to some conflicts.  

Their Pacific Palisades home was put up for sale for $3.4 million in February 2021, around the time they decided to part ways. The specific reason for their separation remains unknown, but they are committed to co-parenting their two children and maintaining an amicable relationship.

Randle Mell's ex-spouse Mary McDonnell began acting in theaters in New York City. She acted in plays like "Buried Child" and "Still Life." Her performances earned her awards like the Obie Award. 

On Broadway, McDonnell appeared in plays such as "Execution of Justice," "The Heidi Chronicles," and "Summer and Smoke." After over 21 years of working in theater and TV, she became famous in movies. 

Mary's big break was in the film "Dances with Wolves" (1990), where she played a character named Stands with a Fist. This role got her an Oscar nomination. McDonnell also got nominated for another Oscar for her role in "Passion Fish" (1992).
