Taye Diggs' Real Estate

Back in 2011, Taye Diggs bought a place in Studio City, CA for $2 million. It's a sizable property with about 5,000 square feet, 5 bedrooms, and 3 bathrooms. It was just right for his then-wife, Idina Menzel, and their little one, who was only 20 months old back then.

This place had a beautiful family room that led out to a lovely terrace through French doors. The outdoor area was packed with cool stuff too: a pool, spa, treehouse, 3-car garage, and well-kept gardens.

But after Diggs and Menzel decided to go their separate ways following a decade of marriage, they put their Studio City home up for sale. Initially, they wanted $2.995 million for it, but they eventually settled for selling it at $2.55 million

To make ends meet, Diggs even danced at Tokyo Disneyland during this time. But his big break came with "Rent," where he played Benny and met his future wife, Idina, who later starred alongside him in "The Wild Party."

After establishing himself in theater, roles poured in. Broadway saw him in hits like "Chicago" and "Wicked." Taye smoothly transitioned to the screen, starting with the soap opera "Guiding Light" and his film debut in "How Stella Got Her Groove Back" in '98. The following year was packed with films like "Go," "The Wood," "The Best Man," and a cameo in the remake of "House on Haunted Hill."

In 2004, Taye headlined his show "Kevin Hill," a legal drama that impressed in its first season but didn't get renewed. He revisited "Rent" in the film adaptation in 2005 while keeping his Broadway presence strong, especially in "Hedwig and the Angry Inch." Diggs also contributed to Broadway soundtracks.

"Private Practice" became Diggs' star series from 2007 to 2013, spinning off from "Grey's Anatomy." He dipped into guest roles on "The West Wing," "Grey's Anatomy," and starred in "Dylan Dog: Dead of Night" and " 'Til Death Do Us Part."

Diggs believed that calling his son solely "black" ignored an essential part of his identity. This led to debates on social media- some accused Taye of lacking pride, while others supported his right to decide how his son is labeled.

The second controversy arose when Diggs clarified his stance. He mentioned wanting his son to take pride in his black heritage if he chose, but he would also stand by him if he identified as white. This sparked a new debate - some feared it might confuse his son, while others defended Diggs's support for his son's choice.
