In 1973, the pair married. Sharon was 20 years old, and her husband was 27 years old. Her brother felt her husband, DeAngelo, was a decent person and assisted them in getting married. DeAngelo was a former police officer and later in 1979, he was fired after knowing his crime.

The couple shares three children together. Sharon didn't know about her husband's crimes while she was marrying him. The couple was separated in 1991.

Sharon Marie Huddle filed for divorce from her husband, Joseph James DeAngelo, in 2018. DeAngelo was sentenced to life behind bars with no chance of being released.
