However, many credible websites and a other sources refer to her as Rozene Cohran. The truth is, this confusion seems to have started long before the internet. The mystery surrounding her last name remains unsolved.

When Did Rozene Cohran Meet Her Future Husband Charley Pride? 

Back in the 1950s, during Charley Pride's baseball days before he became a singer, he was playing as a pitcher for the Memphis Red Sox of the Negro American League. Meanwhile, Rozene Cohran was busy working as a cosmetologist. When they first crossed paths, Charley, known for his humility, doubted his chances with her. 

So, to impress her, Pride did something special. He gifted her the record "It Only Hurts for a Little While" by the Ames Brothers. Rozene later revealed, "He thought I was gonna go out with somebody else." What a romantic gesture from Charley!

Rozene Cohran And Charley Pride Married on1956

In 1956, while Rozene Cohran and Charley Pride were dating, Pride was drafted into the United States Army, keeping them apart for two years until his discharge in 1958. However, this separation didn't deter them from getting married. 

After completing his basic training, Pride returned to Mississippi for the Christmas holiday. On December 28, 1956, they exchanged vows, coincidentally on his father's birthday. 

That year brought both joy and sorrow for Charley as he married Rozene, the love of his life, but also mourned the loss of his mother. Despite life's ups and downs, the lovebirds have enjoyed sixty years of marital bliss until Pride died in 2020.

Throughout their more than six decades of marriage, Rozene Cohran and Charley Pride have had the joy of raising three children: two sons, Dion and Kraig, and one daughter, Angela.

Their eldest, Kraig, was born in Colorado, while Dion was born on March 23, 1962, followed closely by Angela on April 18, 1962. Both of Rozene's sons have followed in their father's footsteps and succeeded in the music industry. 

Kraig, now known as Carlton, leads a band called "Carlton Pride and Zion," while Dion, who once played guitar for his father, has entertained troops on numerous USO tours.

Before meeting Charley Pride, Rozene Cohran worked as a beautician. Once Charley became a singing sensation, she joined his management team. It's estimated her net worth might have exceeded $1 million.
