Richard Carpenter is a well-known singer, musician, record producer, songwriter, and music arranger. He has been contributing to the music industry since 1969 and his genre is Pop. 

On 15th October 1946, he was born in New Haven, Connecticut, United States. His parents are Agnes Renuwar Tatum and Harold Bertman Carpenter. He studied music at California State College at Long Beach where he met Frank Poller and John Bettis.

Richard Carpenter is married to Mary Rudolph, who is his adopted cousin. In 1984, the couple tied the knot which was the grand wedding. They started dating in the late 1970s. They have been in a happy married life for almost four decades.

Has Five Children

The musician Carpenter is the proud father of five children with his wife. His first child is Kristi Lynn Carpenter who came into this on 17th August 1987. 

Likewise, Traci Tatum Carpenter on 25th July 1989, Mindi Karen Carpenter on 7th July 1992, Collin Paul Carpenter on 20th July 1994, and Taylor Mary Carpenter on 5th December 2000. 

Moreover, his two daughters name has kept after their aunt's name. Richard has always kept his children away from the limelight. But sometimes, they appear on the red carpet with their father. The family is residing in Thousand Oaks, California.

Sister: Karen Carpenter 

Richard is the brother of Karen Carpenter, who was a popular singer and drummer. Her career began with the band "Two Plus Two", a girl trio. She has released numerous studio, posthumous, and solo albums such as "Offering", "A Song for You", "Christmas Portrait", "Voice of the Heart", "An Old-Fashioned Christmas", and so on. 

The siblings' duo were too close and were supporters of each other. Unfortunately, at just 32 years Karen passed away from heart failure due to complications from anorexia nervous.

Health Issue

From this tragic death of his sister, Richard Carpenter suffered the most which dropped his health. He suffered from insomnia, panic attacks, and depression. He is also addicted to Quaalude, a sedative and hypnotic medication. 

Later, Mr. Carpenter got encouragement from his close one and took a six-week treatment program at the Menninger Clinic in Topeka, Kansas, and became free from the bad habits. 

Venture

Carpenter is an automobile enthusiast of Mopar, the parts, service, and customer care division of the former Chrysler Corporation. He is the original owner of a 1970 Plymouth Barracuda with the unusual 400+6 V8 engine and automatic transmission package.
