Rachel Robinson came into the limelight as the wife of Jackie Robinson. Her late husband was a professional baseball player who had played in Major League Baseball (MLB). 

On 19th July 1922, she was born to her parents in Los Angeles, California, United States. Mrs. Robinson completed her education at the University of California, Los Angeles. Later, pursued a master's degree in psychiatric nursing from New York Univerity.

On 10th February 1946, Rachel Robinson walked into the aisle with Jackie Robinson. They met first time at the University. After dating for 5 years, they decided to get married and became life partners. 

The couple was together for 25 years until the death of Mr. Robinson. After being a widow, Rachel lived a single life and parented her children.

Mother of Three Children

Rachel Robinson is the mother of three children, Jackie Robinson, Sharon Robinson, and David Robinson respectively. Her eldest child was born on 18th November 1946. Unfortunately, on 17th June 1971, he died in Norwalk, Connecticut in a car accident.  

Likewise, welcomed a baby girl in  1950 after four years of the first child. She is the vice-chairman of the "Jackie Robinson Foundation", also the educational consultant for Major League Baseball. 

The youngest child was born in 1952. David Robinson is the Managing Director of the "Higher Ground Development Corporation". He has been working to develop struggling communities. Her son is the owner of the coffee farm and launched a brand "Sweet Unity Farm".

Film Based on Jackie Robison's Life

On 16th May 1950, "The Jackie Robinson Story" film got released in the theaters. It was a biographical film based on the life of a baseball player. It was directed by renowned director, Alfred E. Green. 

The celebrities who played the characters were Jackie Robinson as Himself, Ruby Dee as Rachel Robinson, Minor Watson as Branch Rickey, and many other.
