In January 2020, Wilburn faced serious charges including possessing a firearm, using false identification, and involvement in criminal gang activity and trespassing. Although Future bailed him out with $100,000, Jakobi was already released without his father present. If convicted, he could face a lengthy prison sentence, particularly for the gang activity charge.

Jakobi's mother, Jessica Smith, has taken Future to court in the past for neglecting their son and failing to pay child support. She claimed Future lied about his income to pay less and neglectfully impacted Jakobi's emotional well-being.

Despite these troubles, Jakobi, also known as King Kobi, is carving a path in the music industry. He has released songs on various platforms, collaborated with artists, and appeared in music videos.

Jakobi Wilburn Parent's Relationship

Jessica Smith, an actress, and Future, the Grammy-winning rapper, have a lengthy history together. They started dating in 2001 and had their son, Jakobi Wilburn, in 2002. Despite their eventual split, Future has remained actively involved in Jakobi's life.

In 2016, Jessica sued Future for child support, alleging he hadn't maintained a meaningful relationship with their son. The legal battle was settled out of court.

Their relationship made headlines again in August 2021 when Jessica revealed text messages from Future to their son, where he reportedly used derogatory language toward her. This sparked a public dispute involving Future's mother coming to his defense.

Despite these public incidents, Future and Jessica have strived to maintain a positive relationship for the sake of their son. Future has publicly praised Jessica's parenting, even dedicating a Mother's Day tribute to her in 2020.

While their romantic relationship has ended, they've prioritized a healthy dynamic for their son's well-being.
