He also performed in live productions of plays including "The Vortex," "Hamlet," "The Pearlfishers," "Romeo and Juliet," "Macbeth," and "Plague Over England."  

Heughan landed a recurring role as Scott Nielson in the BBC soap opera "Doctors" in 2009 and portrayed the title character in the direct-to-video feature "Young Alexander the Great." He continued with TV films like "First Light" and starred in PBS's BAFTA-winning mini-series "Any Human Heart."  

Sam appeared in diverse roles, from Hallmark Channel's "A Princess for Christmas" to the stage show "Batman Live," playing Batman. Cirdan Heughan faced a Cancer Diagnosis

In 2008, Cirdan Heughan faced a tough battle when he was diagnosed with testicular cancer, a challenging time that his family supported him through. Thankfully, with treatment, he made a full recovery. 

Since overcoming cancer, Cirdan's brother has actively championed cancer charities, dedicating himself to raising awareness about men's health check-ups. Notably, in 2018, he participated in the EMF and Stirling Marathons, raising funds and awareness for Cahonas Scotland's Testicular Cancer Education. 

Despite a long absence, Heughan reunited with his father after many years apart. Sadly, his father battled Leukemia and passed away in 2014 due to the illness. Although his brother rarely discusses their father publicly, he once mentioned that the costumes in "Outlander" evoke memories of their late father.
