Zoltan Hargitay, along with Mariska Hargitay, Mickey Hargitay Jr., and their mother, Jayne Mansfield, faced a tragic accident on June 28, 1967. They were traveling from Biloxi in 1995 with a Buick Electra 225 en route to New Orleans.

Around 2:25 AM, their car collided with a truck, resulting in the tragic loss of three adults: Jayne, her attorney Sam Brody, and their driver, Ronnie Harrison. Fortunately, Hargitay and his siblings, who were sleeping in the back seat, survived the crash with minor injuries.  

Despite surviving the accident, it profoundly affected Zoltan's life. Losing his mother led to a lasting fear of road accidents for him. 

Zoltan Hargitay's Encounter with a Lion  

The 1967 car crash wasn't the sole life-threatening event in Zoltan Hargitay's life. He made headlines when he was attacked by a lion named Sammy. 

During a trip with Jayne to the theme park Jungleland USA, Hargitay was attacked and bitten on the neck by the lion. The incident caused severe head trauma, leading to three head surgeries at Community Memorial Hospital in Ventura.  

Zoltan endured a six-hour brain surgery and subsequently developed meningitis. Later, Jayne's attorney filed a lawsuit against the theme park, seeking $1.6 Million on behalf of the Hargitay family. Following negative publicity, the theme park was eventually closed down.
