Jarel Portman is the youngest son of John C. Portman and Joan Newton. His father was a world-famous architect and real estate who has designed famous infrastructures such as Hyatt, Marriott, Westin Hotel, and many more. He was a fellow of the American Institute of Architects. He died at the age of 93, on December 29, 2017. 

Five Siblings 

Being younger in the family, he grew up with other five older siblings. He has four older brothers, Jae Portman, Michael Wayne ( Jody ) Portman, John Calvin ( Jack ) Portman III, Jeffrey Lin Portman, and one elder sister named Jana Lee Portman Simmons.
