His uncle Rob taught him and he soon started playing to records by KISS Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Ozzy, Iron Maiden, Cheap Trick, Aerosmith, Dio, and Journey. 

In 1989, he graduated his music degree with honors from The percussion division of the Musician's Institute (P.I.T).

At the age of 19, he began teaching drum lessons at Ontario Music in Ontario, California. Then, he tours with Michael Sweet and continued his Journey as a touring and session drummer. 

He has recorded songs with Guardian, Zach Brooke, Michael Sweet, John Elefante, Venice, The Brave, Hillary Duff, Kyle Vincent, Tears for Fears, Steve Bertrand, Avion, and others.

Wollam is not married yet but was in a relationship with an actress, Theresa Elizabeth aka Tori Polo. They dated for many years and even were engaged. Following their engagement, the couple became parents to a daughter Bayley Wollam, in December 2007. Sadly, both got separated in 2012.
