Steel Train  

In 2002, Jack Antonoff and his friend Scott Irby-Ranniar established Steel Train, with Antonoff as the lead vocalist. They brought on Matthias Gruber as the drummer. The band then persuaded Evan Winiker and Matthew Goldman from Random Task to leave college and join them. 

Steel Train landed a record deal with Drive-Thru Records. They gained popularity in the jam band festival scene, and Antonoff credits this experience with shaping his approach to his subsequent music ventures. 

Fun
