How Did Alison Victoria Get Into Designing?

In a 2014 interview with Refinery29, Alison Victoria shared her journey. She started redesigning her friend Britt's room at just 8 years old. They changed the carpet to wood flooring, painted everything peach (it was trendy in the '80s), and moved the furniture around.

Even back then, Victoria paid attention to space and how to use it well, testing ideas in her shared bedroom with her sister. After starting her own design company, Alison Victoria Interiors, she saw the next step was television.

When Alison got an email about a reality show for Chicago designers, Alison knew it was her chance. "I replied immediately, telling them they didn't need to look further," she said.

Interestingly, show producers met Victoria at Trump Tower in Chicago while she was working on a project. However, what they offered wasn't what she wanted.

They suggested Alison be a ghost designer on a show called House Crashers, not an actual ghost but someone who designs behind the scenes. She agreed, knowing it wouldn't be for long. In a few weeks, she found herself in front of the camera.

By 2011, Victoria became the first female host of Kitchen Crashers, leading her to Windy City Rehab. If it wasn't for her determination and courage, who knows where she would be now.
