Hartley's rise to fame began when he played Fox Crane in the popular soap opera "Passions." He was part of the main cast from 2002 to 2006. He also played a significant role in "The Young and the Restless" between 2014 and 2016. Justin appeared in other shows like "Smallville," "Emily Owens, M.D.," "Revenge," and "Mistresses."  

Justin's breakthrough came with his role as Kevin on the show "This Is Us," which debuted in September 2016. The show revolves around the lives of three interconnected siblings from birth. It received excellent reviews and has become one of NBC's most popular programs. Currently, Hartley earns $250,000 per episode for his work on "This Is Us." In the same year, Hartley appeared in seven episodes as Oliver Queen, a wealthy character, on the CW show "Smallville." In 2008, he returned to "Smallville" as a regular cast member after some main actors left the show.  

Justin also got involved behind the scenes. He co-wrote the episode "Sacrifice" in 2010 and directed the episode "Dominion" in 2011. In 2008, he starred as Tom in the movie "Red Canyon," filmed in Utah's badlands.  

After "Smallville," Hartley acted alongside Mamie Gummer in "Emily Owens, M.D.," a comedy-drama on The CW. Unfortunately, the show was canceled after its first season. He also had guest roles on shows like "Chuck," "Castle," and "Hart of Dixie." From 2013 to 2014, Justin played Patrick Osbourne, Victoria Grayson's illegitimate son, on the ABC show "Revenge."

He also had a recurring role in the second season of the ABC drama "Mistresses." Before that, she was an actress and had worked on several soap operas. Sadly, she filed for divorce in November 2019. As of 2023, Justin is romantically involved with Sofia Pernas.
