Emily O'Hara Ratajkowski was born on 7th June, 1991, in Westminster, London, England, to American parents Kathleen Anne Balgley, a university professor, and John David Ratajkowski, an artist. She lived in Encinitas, a town located in the north of San Diego, California, for much of her childhood. Emily is of mixed ancestry with British, German, Polish, Irish, and Jewish ethnicity and grew up spending summers as a kid in Ireland and Spain.
She tried acting, ballet, and soccer before focusing on modeling and performed local theater productions as a child. Emily went to UCLA for Fine Arts for a short time but quit after her first year to work full time as a model.
