Lasko's parents were originally from Conneaut, Ohio. Her father, Edward, was a student at the United States Army Officer Candidate School in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and became a Second Lieutenant in 1952. 

Edward served as a combat duty officer in Korea and later worked as an accountant at the Astatic Corporation, a microphone and audio device manufacturer, in Conneaut. Her father's father was a lighthouse keeper during World War 2. 

Regina attended Northwestern University, earning a BA in Radio-TV-Film. She also holds an MBA from Case Western Reserve University.

David Letterman first met Regina Lasko, who was working as an equipment manager for the New York Rangers NHL team, through the sportscaster Marv Albert. They started their relationship in February 1986. Letterman has often mentioned how supportive Lasko has been throughout their time together.

The couple dated for 23 years before getting married. Although their relationship began in the mid to late 1980s, they didn't tie the knot until 2009. Their wedding took place at the Teton County Courthouse in Chateau, Montana.

Regina Lasko Once Ended Her Relationship With David Letterman 

In their earlier days together, Regina Lasko, a Northwestern University graduate, did break up with David Letterman for a time. The breakup was reportedly because Letterman was initially hesitant about starting a family. However, they reconciled, and now share a son, Harry Joseph Letterman, born in 2003. 

Before his relationship with Lasko, Letterman was married twice. His first wife was Michelle Cook, whom he married in 1968 in Indiana. They had met in college but divorced in 1977. 

Following his marriage to Cook, David dated Merrill Markoe, who was the head writer of his show. Lasko and Letterman's relationship began while he was still with Markoe, and after David and Markoe parted ways in 1988, he continued his relationship with Lasko, who is now his spouse.

Six months into their marriage, news surfaced that David Letterman had affairs with some of his female staff.  In October 2009, Letterman admitted to his affairs publicly on his TV show after being threatened with exposure. 

Among the women Letterman was involved with was Stephanie Birkitt, his former assistant. The threat to reveal his actions reportedly came from Joe Halderman, a producer at CBS' "48 Hours," who was dating Birkitt at that time. Their affair had started in December 2007.

Regina Lasko, though she never publicly spoke about the infidelity, was reported to be very upset when she found out. Letterman acknowledged that Lasko was deeply hurt by his actions, and she even withdrew from appearing with him at public events for a while.

Regina Lasko Stayed With Her Husband Despite His Affairs  

Regina Lasko chose not to leave her husband, David Letterman after his affairs were revealed. Letterman, a well-known TV personality, has repeatedly expressed his regret, doubting if he could ever truly forgive himself.

Three years after admitting to his infidelity, Letterman shared in an interview that he was still working on rebuilding trust with his wife. He acknowledged that he was solely to blame for his actions.  

David has often suggested that he may never fully forgive himself, saying, "I'm still trying to fix it. It hasn't gone away. It will never go away." In a 2013 interview with Oprah, David emphasized his inability to excuse his behavior, stating, "No, I don't have that luxury. I can’t forgive that behavior."  

Letterman took full responsibility for the scandal, acknowledging that if there were a responsibility chart for the situation, his name would be at the top. Despite the challenges, David mentioned that since the affair became public, his life has been more enjoyable and joyful.
