During his hockey career, he was even approached to sign a goaltending coach deal with the Rio Grande Valley Bees. But he had some other plans too so he left hockey in order to pursue a military career. 

For instance, he wanted to become an FBI agent so he served at the Fort Lewis Military Camping Tacoma.
