Leitch was inspired by "Kung Fu Theater" as a child and acquired a fascination for martial arts. Because Kohler lacked a martial arts school, he learned himself from books in his garage. For his post-secondary education, he enrolled in the University of Minnesota. Dan Inosanto Academy provided him martial arts training.
