During the show, Lainey and her bandmates wore Devlin Hodges jerseys, even though he hadn't played for the team since 2020.

Their relationship became more public in November 2023 when Devlin joined Lainey on the red carpet at the CMA Awards. The couple, wearing matching cowboy hats, looked deeply in love as they gazed into each other's eyes.

Lainey Wilson and Devlin Hodges first met through mutual friends in Nashville, and their inaugural date took place at a spot called "Silverados," as shared by Lainey with People.

Describing the outing, she mentioned, "It had free beer and wine from 5 to 10 p.m. I was like, ‘This boy likes to ball on a budget too. This is gonna work out.’”

Devlin enthusiastically supports Lainey in her blossoming country music career, creating a supportive dynamic in their relationship. Wilson expressed, "Duck is the kind of dude who high-fives me on the way in the door and on the way out and says, ‘Go get it.’ He knows how important this dream is to me.”

Devlin's influence extends to Lainey's music, inspiring her to write love songs. She expressed gratitude for his presence in her life, saying, “I was never really able to write love songs, because I don’t know if I had felt it, but I’m writing me some love songs now. I’m grateful for him.” 

Beyond their personal connection, Devlin proves to be Lainey's biggest fan, featuring her on his TikTok account. In a June 2023 video, he joined one of Lainey's photoshoots and couldn't help but be captivated by her beauty. Captioning the clip, he wrote, “Went to one of those photoshoot things with Lainey.. I’d go to another one. Yeah, I’m simping hard.”

Devlin used to be a quarterback at Alabama’s Samford University and later joined the Pittsburgh Steelers as an undrafted free agent in 2019. After that, he signed with the Ottawa Redblacks in September 2021. 

However, Hodges retired from professional football less than a year later, in April 2022. Currently, he works in real estate with Mossy Oak Properties in Louisiana. 

Apart from his football career, Devlin is recognized for his duck-calling skills. He even won the 2018 Alabama State Duck Calling Championship. 

Interestingly, Hodges' nickname "Duck" didn't come from his duck-calling talent. It originated from his college football coach who saw him as one of the best quarterbacks he had worked with. Reminded of a favorite quarterback from the past, the coach gave him the nickname "Duck," and it stuck with the team.

Devlin Hodges has earned the approval of Lainey Wilson's friends! In a chat with PEOPLE about their relationship, the singer of "Heart Like a Truck" playfully remarked that Hodges has gradually been "stealing all my buddies," including her country music pals like Cole Swindell and HARDY. 

Reflecting on their red carpet debut in May, Wilson shared, “Somebody said how funny it was watching him high-five all of my artist friends at the ACMs, and I said, ‘Those are his friends!’ ” 

"He’ll FaceTime me, and he’ll be with HARDY and Morgan [Wallen] and Luke [Combs], and I’m like, ‘Stop stealing all my buddies,' " Lainey continued. "They’ll always be out golfing and drinking a beer.”
