By 1992, Brzezinski was at a CBS affiliate in Hartford and became the weekday morning anchor by 1995. Mika transitioned to CBS News in 1997, serving as a correspondent for "Up to the Minute."

Following a brief tenure at MSNBC, Mika rejoined CBS in September 2001, just before the 9/11 attacks. Her coverage during this critical time made her a pivotal reporter for CBS, covering live broadcasts, including the South Tower collapse. Despite her notable contributions to CBS News, she was eventually let go.

In 2007, Brzezinski returned to MSNBC, taking on various roles like news updates and anchoring. Eventually, Joe Scarborough selected her as co-host of "Morning Joe." However, she faced challenges and discomfort, earning the unflattering label "hot anchor," which she didn't appreciate.

Throughout her career, Mika avoided covering what she deemed "entertainment news," famously rejecting coverage of Paris Hilton's legal issues. She even tried to burn a script detailing Hilton's release from jail.

During the 2016 presidential campaign, Brzezinski faced criticism for her phone interviews with Donald Trump and for highlighting Bernie Sanders' treatment by the DNC. She notably declined to have Kellyanne Conway on her show, accusing her of spreading misinformation.

Mika's clash with Trump in 2016 initiated ongoing disputes. Both have exchanged barbs on Twitter, with Trump calling her "low I.Q." and Brzezinski labeling his presidency as "fake and failed." Their public spats have continued over the years.
