April Lee Hernández is a married woman who is the wife of Joes "Zalo" Castillo, who is a New York City based film maker and lifestyle photographer. The couple was best friends but later became lovers. They exchanged the vows on 12th May 2007, which was a private ceremony. Since then, the two have been living together as a happy couple.  

Mama of Two Children 

The beautiful actress April is the proud mother of two children. In 2012, she gave birth to her first child, Summer Rose Castillo. Her eldest daughter is a voice actor who has leaned her voice in "Alma's Way" for the main character "Alma". She also appears in the film "Brownsville Bred". 

Again, on 23rd March 2017, April welcomed her second daughter, Lyla Isabela Castillo. She is 4 years old and growing up with her sister. The two children often feature on their parents' social media account.  

Social Activist 

Hernández was emotionally and physically abused by her boyfriend when she was a teenager. After that, she took her message to the streets of her Bronx neighborhood in October 2011  for Domestic Violence Awareness Month. She organized the event to make an award for the people who are suffering from violence. 

April and her spouse have produced a documentary on domestic violence which is the victims' real stories who were encountered over the years. 

Who Was Her Inspiration?

Before started acting, the "30 Rock" actress was studying nutrition at Hunter College, but later dropped out. As she was interested in acting, she left her education to pursue a comedy career. Her inspiration is John Leguizamo, who is a well-known stand-up comedian of the Hollywood industry. He has been entertaining the audience since 1984.
