Aasif Hakim Mandviwala professionally known as Aasif Mandiv is a British-American actor and a comedian who is best known for his role as a correspondent on The Daily Show from 2006 to 2015. 

Mandvi was born on March 5, 1966, in a Dawoodi Bohra Muslim family to Mr. Hakim Mandviwala who was a corner shop owner and to Mrs. Fatima Mandviwala who worked as a nurse.

Apart form being an actor an comedian, he has written books like Sakina's Restaurant, No Land's Man and No Land's Man (Sneak Preview).

Awards

He has won an Obie Award from his show Sakina's Restaurant which is about an Indian Muslim family who owns a restaurant and another new immigrant arrives from India who arrives in the restaurant to work as a waiter.

He played the lead role of Amir, a Pakistani American lawyer who struggles with his identity and Islam in the drama of Ayad Akhtar. Mandvi was nominated for a Lucille Lortel Award for his role while the play won the 2013 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. 

In June 2019, Macaulay Honors College honored him with an honorary doctorate for humane letters after giving the opening address that year.

Aasif has also given his voice to many frictional characters like Mike Patel in King of the hill, Pirate Pharaoh in jake and the neverland pirates, King Raja in Elena of avalor. Aasif Mandvi was born in Mumbai (then Bombay), Maharashtra in India. When he was one year old his family moved to England, settling in the Yorkshire city of Bradford. At the age of 16, his family again moved to Tampa, Florida in the United States where he got his degree in Theatre while graduating from the University of South Florida.
